Why You’re Training Hard but Not Sending Outside
The Roadmap is a diagnostic guide to help you identify what’s holding back your outdoor performance.
1. Understand why strength alone isn’t enough
2. Identify your primary limiter outside
3. Stop guessing what to work on
The Roadmap (Free)
I’ve always seen writing as a quiet but powerful way to connect - through honesty, shared experience, and clear thinking.
Climbing, for me, has been a process of continual rediscovery: learning through successes and failures, questioning assumptions, and slowly understanding what actually matters for performance on real rock.
While climbing literature has shaped much of my own development, long-form, thoughtful work has increasingly been replaced by short-form, low-impact content. The Roadmap is my attempt to create something different - in-depth, practical, and intentional.
This free digital booklet distils over a decade of experience as both a climber and a coach. It’s designed to help you understand why your performance may be stalling, and how to identify what deserves your attention next.
Inside, you’ll find a clear framework covering:
Observation - route reading, visualisation, and decision-making
Physical training - warming up, mobility, finger strength, board climbing, and conditioning
Mental blocks - fear, self-doubt, and performance plateaus
Technique - movement efficiency and skill development
Lifestyle - habits and routines that support consistent progress
The Roadmap is completely free. All that’s required is signing up to the newsletter, where I share occasional reflections and practical insights drawn from coaching and real climbing.
If you’re unsure where to start, this is usually the best place to begin.
